Interior

Mangwon OTSEP café interior with natural light and homey décor

The interior feels like a converted house, with separate rooms branching off from the main entrance and kitchen. One room is a small shop selling house-made pesto and cute t-shirts, while the other two are for seating. The sunny backyard is especially popular for brunch.

Shall we first take a look at the small goods shop? They sell homemade pesto and also cute t-shirts. On the other side, there were other products for sale as well. Among them, my favorite was the insulated lunch bag. Its cute color, reminiscent of a tomato, seemed perfect for summer.

My Honest Thoughts about Best brunch house in Mangwon

Since I visited this brunch in Mangwon with three friends, we got to try a lot! Here’s what we ordered: Basil Pastry Pizza, Basil Pesto Lasagna, Basil Cold Noodles, Black Olive B.L.T. Sandwich, and Truffle Mushroom Risotto.

  • Basil Pesto Lasagna: you can’t skip this Lasagna. Baked with plenty of cheese and basil pesto, the lasagna had a wonderful aroma and was rich but not overly salty.
  • Basil Cold Noodles: A summer-only dish made with broth from Jeju’s Okran Myeonok. The basil pesto on top was unique, and the pickled cucumber and chicken breast made it light and refreshing. The slightly salty, addictive broth was perfect for hot days.

If you mix it, it looks like this!

  • Basil Pastry Pizza: The flaky pastry crust was topped with basil pesto, chopped almonds, mascarpone cheese, and cherry tomatoes. It comes with honey on the side, which pairs beautifully with the pizza. If you visit Pesto Pesto, this is a must-try!
  • Black Olive B.L.T. Sandwich: Packed with fresh veggies, stracciatella cheese, and bacon on hearty sourdough. Served with tangy sauerkraut, which was a surprisingly great match.
  • Truffle Mushroom Risotto: The only dish we ordered without pesto, but it was still delicious—creamy rice with a subtle truffle aroma, not overpowering at all.
